On June 15, 2019, Swiss watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre will celebrate its partnership with the 22nd Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF). As an official partner, Jaeger-LeCoultre will host a charity dinner at the West Coast Art Center, donate and publicly auction a specially tailored timepiece to support the restoration of classic Chinese movies.
Adhering to the unremitting pursuit of superb technology and craftsmanship, Jaeger-LeCoultre draws inspiration from peaceful nature and integrates heart and soul into the art of time. This year is the ninth consecutive year that Jaeger-LeCoultre has collaborated with the Shanghai International Film Festival. The brand pays tribute to film production that will provide an artistic experience for all guests from all over the world.
Jaeger-LeCoultre watchmaking masters are deeply influenced and inspired by nature. They ingeniously combine rare crafts (MétiersRares®) such as enamel, carving, gem setting and guilloché to achieve a balance between nature and watchmaking. Jaeger-LeCoultre’s exploration of fine watchmaking stems from the precise traditions common to the film world. Every timepiece donated to charity auctions in the past few years represents Jaeger-LeCoultre’s respect and contribution to the art of film. Each restored classic Chinese film shows Jaeger-LeCoultre’s passion and dedication to the art of time.
This year, Jaeger-LeCoultre launched a dating series day and night display watch (medium model) for the charity auction party-a tribute to Guangying’s 2019 Shanghai International Film Festival orphan model (model: 344246J). The dial and bezel of this watch are decorated with 107 delicate and elegant diamonds, with a rose gold case with a silver guilloché dial and rose gold applied hour markers. The moon phase display at 6 o’clock presents a new feminine appearance, with the golden polished moon and stars shining in the red paint sky. The clouds below are also retouched with guilloché. Rose gold inlaid digital hour markers are faithful to the design specifications of the date collection.
Over the past nine years, Jaeger-LeCoultre has collaborated with the Shanghai International Film Festival to repair dozens of classic Chinese films, including ‘One River Spring Water Flows East’, ‘Stage Sisters’, ‘Heroes’, ‘New Love’ and ‘Out of the Window’ ‘, And’ Sea Flowers ‘, which will premiere this year. Film restoration and watchmaking require artist patience and precision, as well as a focus on superb technology and aesthetic skills. No matter how long it takes to repair the ‘time’ and indicate the ‘time’, Jaeger-LeCoultre watchmaking strives to push the boundaries of precision.
In 2018, the GlorytotheFilmmakerAward made its debut at the Shanghai International Film Festival, praising the outstanding achievements of Chinese filmmakers in film art, and the outstanding director Chen Chong became the first winner. This year, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Filmmaker’s Honor Award is again presented at the Shanghai International Film Festival, continues to support the development of the Chinese film industry, and pays tribute to artists who have made great contributions to the development of film production. As a partner of the Shanghai International Film Festival, Jaeger-LeCoultre will work with Chinese filmmakers to compose a new chapter in film history. (Photo / text watch home Xu Chaoyang)
